Pat McArdle

Pat McArdle is a former Chief Economist with Ulster Bank/NCB Stockbrokers and public servant in the Department of Finance and the EU Commission. His experience in the financial services industry includes membership of the Irish Stock Exchange, Director and Compliance Officer at NCB Stockbrokers and Pensioneer Trustee at Ulster Bank. He also chaired the European Banking Federation Chief Economists Group, served as Secretary to the EFFAS European Bond Commission and was a Member of the Consultative Industry Panel to the former Irish Financial Regulator.

Since retiring, he has pursued a variety of interests including journalism and economics. He was the advisor to the Independent Review Panel of the Department of Finance following the crash and was an expert witness in a number of landmark court cases. He edited and largely wrote "Banking Union, Progress and Prospects", published by the IIEA in 2015.

Pat is a director of a number of UCITs funds management companies, a board member of the Chartered Accountants Regulatory Board (CARB) and Co-Chair of the IIEA Economists Group. He is an alternate on the Joint Appeal Board of the European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, ESMA and EIOPA).

Pat is a Qualified Financial Advisor, a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers, a Member of the Institute of Directors and holds a corporate governance qualification from the Smurfit Business School.
