BlackBee are honoured to announce we are one of the sponsors for the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament (IMART) who are hosting their World Cup in Independent Park Cork in June. Nathalie and Katie two of BlackBee’s employees attended the launch party on Friday 7th of February and are pictured here with Alan Craughwell, IMART; James Healy, IMART and Liam Maher, IMART at the launch of launch IMART 2020 (International Mixed Ability Rugby 2020) and MAW 20 (Mixed Ability Week 20).
Mixed Ability Week 20 runs from 7th-12th June running concurrently to the rugby tournament. The Mixed Ability Model will be used to break down barriers to participation in sport, promote social inclusion & generate long-term positive change in our communities. This grew organically from a lack of provision for disabled participants to play rugby. Players with & without physical and learning disabilities began playing in the same 15 a side rugby game abiding by World Rugby Laws. June 2020 will see 750 rugby players, male and female, with and without disability come to Independent Park, Cork to compete in the World Cup.
This will provide a framework for how the mixed ability model can be transferred to other sports & how the model can be used within business’ to develop a framework for Diversity and Inclusion. Sponsoring an event like this is a privilege, BlackBee look forward to learning more on how we can apply this to our current framework.Current Champions Sundays Well Rebels Cork- Ireland’s first ever mixed ability rugby team, winning the World Cup in England 2019 & winning the opportunity to host the event in Ireland.
